A "Stack" is a is a collection of Boards that contain related information. For example, a Stack named "Airports" might have two boards, one that details all of the Airports in the US and another Board that shows only the details of a single Airport. Stacks are generally used for drill-down purposes. So clicking on an Airport in the US level Board would reveal the details of that airport in the single airport details Board.

Stacks are represented as tabs at the top of the Appboard Builder interface.

Stacks are used for Provisioning content to users. So if a User is in a Role that has permission to view a Stack, the User can view the contents of all Boards and Widgets in that Stack.

Managing Stacks

Use these instructions to view a list of all Stacks that are available in the system.

  1. Click "Stacks & Boards" link in the left side tool palette.
  2. Stacks are listed in a data grid in the first page.
  3. Click a stack, and then click "Next", to view a list of boards for that specific stack.
  4. Click "Back" to return to the list of stacks.

Adding a Stack

Use these instructions to create a new Stack, that will be represented by a new tab at the top of the Builder interface.

  1. Click the "Add Stack" quick action button, in the tool palette on the left.
    1. You can also find the "Add Stack" button in the "Stacks & Boards" interface.
  2. Enter a unique name for the new stack.
  3. Select "Do not use a template". See Create, Deploy, Upload and Download Stack Templates for more information on templates.
  4. Click "Add Stack"

When the new stack is created, a new "top-level" board with the same name is automatically created. You can now deploy widgets onto this top level Board, and create child Boards for this Stack.

Editing a Stack

  2. To edit the name of stack, click the name in the data grid.

All of the boards and widgets associated with this stack are now removed from the system.

Stack Auto-Rotation

Some customers use AppBoard in an operations center to display information without the ability to interact with the screen. In this case, it may be desirable to have AppBoard automatically cycle through multiple Stacks. For information on configuring this capability, see Kiosk Mode.
