This page contains information regarding a feature that is scheduled to be deprecated and replaced in an upcoming release of AppBoard.

There may be value in re-using an existing Stack for another project, to save the effort of re-creating the Stack from scratch. Stack Templates allow the AppBoard administrator to save all of the Boards, Widgets, and settings for a Stack to an external XML file so that they can be imported into another project.

To Create a Stack Template

  1. Click "Stacks & Boards" in the left side tool palette.
  2. For a Stack in the Stacks data grid, select the Stack and click the "Create Template" button at the bottom.
  3. In the "Template Name" box, enter the name to create for the template.
  4. In the "Category Name" box, enter the name to create for the category.
  5. (Optional) Enter a description in the "Description" box.
  6. Click the "Create Template" button.

To Download or Upload a Stack Template

  1. Click "Templates" on the top right of the Stacks data grid.
  2. To download a template (i.e. save it to your local file system as an XML file), select the template you wish to use and click "Download".
  3. Use the file browser window to select the location in which you wish to save the XML file.
  4. To upload a template, click "Upload Template".
  5. In the file browser window, locate and select the XML file you wish to use.
  6. In the window that appears, you may enter a name in the "Appended Template Element Name" box.
  7. To deploy the stack (i.e. add it to your current list of stacks automatically), check the "Deploy" checkbox.
  8. To finish, click "Deploy Selected". A browser refresh might be required to show the newly uploaded template among the available templates.
  9. Note that in the window that appears after clicking "Templates" in Step 1, you may delete templates by selecting a template and clicking the "Delete" button.
