Enportal/5.5/admin/system administration/cookie management
This section describes how to manage cookies stored by the portal's cookie manager.
enPortal serves as a bi-directional proxy. It represents the client as it interacts with applications. To properly
mimic the behavior of a client browser, enPortal must manage all of the cookies that would be managed by
the client browser. The portal administrator can access these cookies and perform actions on them.
Cookie Viewer channel
The Cookie Viewer channel is accessible from the system/proxy folder in the portal virtual directory.
It allows the portal administrator to view, modify, and delete currently stored cookies in the portal.
View Cookies
Perform the following steps to view cookies stored in the portal:
- Log in to enPortal as administrator.
- Mouse over the Web Integrations tab and click Explorer. The Explorer panel is displayed.
- Drill down to Directory->System->Proxy folder to select the Cookie Viewer channel.
Delete Cookies
As the administrator, you may identify a cookie that you need to delete.
Perform the following steps to delete a cookie stored in enPortal:
- Log in to enPortal as administrator.
- Mouse over the Web Integrations tab and click Explorer. The Explorer panel is displayed.
- Drill down to Directory->System->Proxy folder to select the Cookie Viewer channel.
- Select one or more cookies to delete by checking the box in the Delete/Scramble? column.
- Click Delete. Observe that enPortal has deleted the cookie from the list in the cookie viewer.
Scramble Cookie Values
For testing purposes, you may want to change the value of a cookie to a random string without deleting the
cookie. This can help test what an application will do when a cookie exists but does not contain the expected
value.
- Log in to enPortal as administrator.
- Mouse over the Web Integrations tab and click Explorer. The Explorer panel is displayed.
- Drill down to Directory->System->Proxy folder to select the Cookie Viewer channel.
- Select one or more cookies to scramble by checking the box in the Delete/Scramble? column.
- Click Scramble. Observe that the cookie value is replaced by "This cookie value has been scrambled!!"
